We’re always seeking ways to build a faster bike; sometimes, it costs much less to optimize the accessories around it.
Enter the Aerobottle. We sought an aerodynamic hydration solution that would be reverse compatible with the standard bike bottle but remain competitively light, user-friendly, and most importantly, fast.
Most of these “jigsaw puzzle” projects are assigned to me due to my background in CE. I was responsible for producing prototype CAD surfaces for use in windtunnel tests. We took these results and designed a bottle cage that would accept both standard round bottles and the Aerobottle. The most difficult part of this project was tuning the amount of retention the cage material had against not just the bottle material but also two different bottle shapes.
